W\u00e4hrend die pal\u00e4stinensischen Beduinen im Negev\/Naqab gegen den israelischen Landraub ank\u00e4mpfen, br\u00fcstet sich die \u00f6sterreichische Weltraumbeh\u00f6rde mit ihrer Beteiligung an einem Marslandungsforschungsprojekt in diesem Gebiet. (English below)

<\/p>\n

Es finden Massenverhaftungen in beduinischen D\u00f6rfern des Naqab statt. Die israelische Armee hat mehr als 80 Pal\u00e4stinenserInnen, unter ihnen Minderj\u00e4hrige festgenommen.<\/p>\n

Zuletzt rief ein israelischer General sogar zur Wiederholung der Milit\u00e4roperation \u201aYoav\u2018 von 1948 auf. Damals blieben \u2013 nach Massakern und Vertreibungen \u2013 von 120.000 Pal\u00e4stinenserInnen nur noch 30.000 \u00fcbrig.[1]<\/a><\/p>\n

Mit brutaler Repression, Checkpoints und Stra\u00dfensperren will Israel die immer massiveren und breiteren Proteste der Menschen eind\u00e4mmen. Dass diese Ma\u00dfnahmen jedoch nur noch mehr Widerstand hervorrufen, ist eine Lektion, die Pal\u00e4stinenserInnen seit Jahr und Tag den israelischen Okkupanten erteilen, wie im Naqab, so im ganzen Land.<\/p>\n

Die Beduinen sind Nachfahren der 1947\/49 in der Naqba Vertriebenen. Israel negiert die Existenz ihrer D\u00f6rfer und Nahrungsgrundlagen und versucht mit gro\u00dfangelegten Zwangsumsiedelungsprojekten, wie dem Prawyer-Plan[2]<\/a>, die Beduinen aus dem Gebiet zu vertreiben. Ein anderes Mittel zum Landraub ist die \u201eUmwidmung\u201c von Fl\u00e4chen f\u00fcr angeblichen Umweltschutz, durchgef\u00fchrt durch den JNF[3]<\/a>, der sich seit 1901 Land in Pal\u00e4stina f\u00fcr die Ansiedelung von J\u00fcdInnen aneignet.<\/p>\n

Ein weiteres Instrument sind die Siedlungen. Eine j\u00fcdische Bev\u00f6lkerungsmehrheit soll durchgesetzt werden. Millionen von Shekel werden investiert, um Menschen zu bewegen, sich in der W\u00fcstengegend anzusiedeln. Der Erfolg ist dennoch bescheiden.<\/p>\n

Wovon sich israelische Regierungen mehr Erfolg versprechen, ist die Etablierung internationaler Forschungsstationen. Wie jene nahe der Mitzpe Ramon[4]<\/a>, in der \u2013 zusammen mit Deutschland, Frankreich, Italien, Portugal, Schweden, USA und UK \u2013 \u00d6sterreich Raumfahrtforschung betreibt.<\/p>\n

Amadee[5]<\/a> versteht sich als \u201eFlagschiff\u201c der \u00f6sterr. Weltraumforschung, den Begriff aus dem Kriegsjargon kann man wortw\u00f6rtlich nehmen. Weltraumforschung hat direkt oder indirekt mit Milit\u00e4r zu tun, und bei Amadee ist das Testen von Drohnen inkludiert. Der computergest\u00fctzte und -gesteuerte High-Tech Mensch stapft im tirolerischen Raumanzug zum drohnengesteuerten Marsrover, der von TU Graz und Uni Klagenfurt erfunden wurde. F\u00fcr die Erforschung m\u00f6glicher Konfliktsituationen traten StudentInnen von der Sigmund Freud Privatuni auf den Plan.[6]<\/a><\/p>\n

Der Studiengang Di\u00e4tologie der FH Ober\u00f6sterreich[7]<\/a> wurde auserkoren, den Speiseplan f\u00fcr die Crews zusammenzustellen.<\/p>\n

Finanziert wird das Projekt u.a. von der europ\u00e4ischen Raumfahrtbeh\u00f6rde ESA, die wiederum vom \u00f6sterreichischen Klimaschutzministerium kofinanziert wird. Wie diese s\u00fcndteure Mission dem Klimaschutz dienen soll, muss Frau Gewessler erst noch erkl\u00e4ren.<\/p>\n

Wie allerdings die ausschweifende Kooperation mit Israel rechtfertigen? Einem Staat, der bis heute seine Grenzen nicht definiert hat, der seine Existenz auf Kosten von 5,6 Millionen Pal\u00e4stinenserInnen aufbaut, die als Fl\u00fcchtlinge leben m\u00fcssen, der V\u00f6lker- und Menschenrecht verachtet, der ein Apartheidregime betreibt und aus Gaza ein riesiges Freiluftgef\u00e4ngnis macht, um es immer wieder mit Bomben zu \u00fcberziehen\u2026<\/p>\n

Es gibt keine Erkl\u00e4rung daf\u00fcr, au\u00dfer dass man sich der totalen Unterwerfung unter den neoliberalen Raubtierkapitalismus, dessen koloniale Variante Israel verk\u00f6rpert, schuldig macht.<\/p>\n

Projekte wie Amadee zeigen, wie sich die politischen und wirtschaftlichen Interessen im globalen Norden die H\u00e4nde reichen und wie der \u201eForschungsnachwuchs\u201c in die Kolonialmaschinerie \u2013 im Naqab die Vertreibung indigener Menschen \u2013 einzubinden ist.<\/p>\n

Wenn StudentInnen die ihnen vorgesetzten Projekte nicht hinterfragen und boykottieren, lassen sie andere f\u00fcr ihre Karrieren bezahlen. Die Mentalit\u00e4t des Kolonisators setzt sich fort.<\/p>\n

Liberale Positionen weisen den akademischen Boykott gerne mit Emp\u00f6rung und Hinweis auf Freiheit der Wissenschaft zur\u00fcck. Mit Amadee wird mehr als deutlich, dass Wissenschaft nicht \u201eneutral\u201c sein kann. AktivistInnen protestieren wiederholt eindringlich gegen die Normalisierung solcher Kooperationen, wie 2017 beim Besuch der Ministerin Shaked[8]<\/a> auf dem Juridikum Wien und vor kurzem gegen AIANI, einen israelisch-\u00f6sterreichischen Akademieaustauschdienst.[9]<\/a><\/p>\n

BDS (Boykott, Desinvestment, Sanktionen) ruft dazu auf, die internationale Kampagne der pal\u00e4stinensischen Zivilgesellschaft f\u00fcr Gerechtigkeit und Freiheit zu unterst\u00fctzen!<\/p>\n

How Austria colonizes the Naqab via Mars<\/strong><\/p>\n

While the Palestinian Bedouins are fighting against Israeli land grabbing in the Negev\/Naqab, the Austrian Space Agency is boasting about its involvement in a Mars landing research project in the area.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mass arrests take place in Bedouin villages of the Naqab. The Israeli army has detained more than 80 Palestinians, including minors.<\/p>\n

Most recently, an Israeli general even called for the repetition of the military operation \u201aYoav\u2018 of 1948. At that time after massacres and expulsions, only 30,000 out of 120,000 Palestinians remained.[1]<\/a><\/p>\n

With brutal repression, checkpoints and roadblocks, Israel aims to curb the increasingly massive and widespread protests of the people. That these measures only provoke more resistance, however, is a lesson that Palestinians have been teaching Israeli occupiers for years; in the Naqab and throughout the entire country.<\/p>\n

The Bedouins are descendants of those expelled in the Nakba in 1947\/49. Israel negates the existence of their villages and food resources and tries to expel the Bedouins from the area with large-scale forced settlement projects, such as the Prawyer Plan.[2]<\/a> Another means of land grabbing is the \u201erededication\u201c of land for alleged environmental protection, carried out by the JNF,[3]<\/a> \u00a0which has been seizing land in Palestine for the settlement of Jews since 1901.<\/p>\n

Another instrument is the settlements; a Jewish majority of the population is enforced as millions of shekels are invested in the persuasion of people to settle in the desert area. Success in that field, however, remains modest.<\/p>\n

What the Israeli government expects more success from is the establishment of international research stations like the one near Mitzpe Ramon[4]<\/a>, in which, together with Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, USA and the UK \u00a0\u2013\u00a0 Austria is engaged in space research.<\/p>\n

Amadee[5]<\/a> sees itself as the \u201eflagship\u201c of the Austrian Government. The war jargon \u2018space exploration\u2019 can thus be taken literally as Amadee includes drone testing, linking the term either directly or indirectly to the military. The computer-aided high-tech man trudges in a Tyrolean spacesuit to the drone-controlled Mars rover, which was developed by TU Graz and the University of Klagenfurt.<\/p>\n

Students from the Sigmund Freud Private University came to the scene to investigate possible conflict situations.[6]<\/a><\/p>\n

The Dietetics study program of the FH Ober\u00f6sterreich[7]<\/a> was chosen to put together the menu for the crew.<\/p>\n

The project is financed, among others, by the European Space Agency ESA, which in turn is co-financed by the Austrian Climate Protection Ministry. Mrs. Gewessler has yet to explain how this outrageously expensive mission is intended to help protect the climate.<\/p>\n

So how is this extravagant cooperation with Israel justified? A state that up to this day has not defined its borders, builds its existence on the expense of 5.6 million Palestinians who have to live as refugees, disdains international and human rights, maintains an apartheid regime and turns Gaza into a huge open-air prison in order to keep bombing it over and over again\u2026<\/p>\n

There is no explanation for this except that one is guilty of total submission to the predatory neoliberal capitalism of which Israel embodies the colonial variant.<\/p>\n

Projects such as Amadee demonstrate how political and economic interests in the Global North are joining forces, and how these \u201eyoung researchers\u201c are being integrated into the colonial machinery that takes part in the expulsion of indigenous people in the Naqab.<\/p>\n

If students do not question and boycott the projects being assigned to them, they allow others to pay for their careers. The mentality of the colonizer continues.<\/p>\n

Liberal positions like to reject the academic boycott with reference to academic\/scientific freedom. With Amadee, it becomes abundantly clear that science cannot be \u201eneutral\u201c.\u00a0 Activists repeatedly protest against the normalization of such cooperation, such as in 2017 during Minister Shaked\u2019s visit to the[8]<\/a> Juridikum Wien and recently against AIANI \u2013 an Israeli-Austrian academic exchange platform.[9]<\/a><\/p>\n
