Instead of using the expensive materials that are inaccessible to most people in the camps, Katanani uses barbed wire, corrugated metal and textiles in his work.<\/div>\n<div><strong>&#8218;[Art] is one of the strongest weapons for Palestinians to affirm their rights&#8216;<em>&#8211;<br \/>\nAbdul Rahman Katanani, artist<\/em><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cThe materials I use come from the camp and have huge symbolism,\u201d Katanani explains. The rusting metal can be interpreted as a symbol of waiting to come back to the homeland, and the barbed wire representative of the borders and restrictions Palestinian refugees face<\/p>\n<p>According to UNRWA, more than <a href=\"http:\/\/facebook.us14.list-manage1.com\/track\/click?u=70813d3d15ac4637582781b8e&amp;id=1d3b6ebb78&amp;e=267525e738\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=de&amp;q=http:\/\/facebook.us14.list-manage1.com\/track\/click?u%3D70813d3d15ac4637582781b8e%26id%3D1d3b6ebb78%26e%3D267525e738&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1506970668204000&amp;usg=AFQjCNG8Ga8s6hRamZcIxDp0IRN4bfgtig\">half of the Palestinians<\/a> in Lebanon are confined to refugee camps where there are high levels of unemployment, poverty and marginalisation. Many of them are Palestinians who have become refugees for a second time.<\/p>\n<p>Abu Marwan, a 47-year-old Palestinian refugee living in Shatila, works in construction and decoration.
