Trump rief die dritte Nakba aus

In einem dünnen Krankenhauskittel, verletzt, barfuß und verwirrt, ohne Nahrung und Wasser, mit einem Katheter und in einer Windel, wurde der in Gaza lebende Omar Abu Jeriban am 13. Juni 2008 auf den Straßenrand geworfen und dem Tod überlassen. Chaim Levinson berichtete damals in Haaretz über die Geschichte, David Grossman war darüber entsetzt.
Neulich wurde das gesamte palästinensische Volk zu Abu Jeriban. Die Rolle der Polizei, die mitten in der Nacht einen Verletzten hinauswarf, übernahmen der amerikanische Präsident Donald Trump und der israelische Premierminister Benjamin Netanjahu. Die Rolle des Krankenhauses, das gerade daneben stand, wurde von der Welt übernommen.
Im Jahr 2008 war es eine menschliche Tragödie; vor zwei Tagen war es eine nationale Tragödie: Das Weiße Haus erklärte den Beginn der dritten Nakba. Die Palästinenser wurden an den Straßenrand geworfen und ihrem Schicksal überlassen. Das rechte Israel ist erfreut, das linke Israel ist wie immer verloren, und die Welt schweigt. Es ist das Ende der Welt.
Das Weiße Haus sah aus wie Habayit Hayehudi neulich, überflutet von Kippot und Jiddischkeit. Muss man ein Antisemit sein, um sich darüber zu wundern? Bei all den Friedensstiftern der Wheeler-Dealer – all diese Friedmans, Adelsons, Greenblatts, Kushners und Berkowitzes, diese angeblich fairen und unparteiischen Vermittler – ist es unmöglich, auch nur über den Beginn eines fairen Abkommens nachzudenken.
Es ist nicht schwer zu erraten, was jedem Palästinenser und jedem Gerechtigkeitssuchenden beim Anblick dieses rein jüdischen und rechtsgerichteten Klassenbildes durch den Kopf geht. Aber die Palästinenser fehlten nicht nur völlig bei der Zeremonie, sie waren auch nirgendwo in dem Plan zu finden, der ihre Zukunft besiegeln könnte und der die Ausschaltung ihrer letzten Chance auf etwas verspäteten Anstand, auf ein bisschen Gerechtigkeit, auf einen Tropfen Mitleid ankündigt. Sie wurden blutend am Straßenrand zurückgelassen.
Dies ist ihre dritte Nakba. Nachdem sie in der ersten Nakba den größten Teil ihres Landes, ihres Besitzes und ihrer Würde verloren haben und in der zweiten ihre Freiheit, kommt nun die dritte Nakba, um alles zu zerstören, was von ihrer Hoffnung übrig geblieben ist. Sie haben alles versucht. Diplomatischer Kampf und bewaffneter Kampf, gewaltfreier Protest und Wirtschaftsboykott. Nichts hat geholfen. Der „Deal des Jahrhunderts“ bestätigt nur das, was bekannt war: Das Böse gedeiht, diesmal in einer besonders extremen Ausgabe von Einseitigkeit, Rassismus und Arroganz. Die Mächtigen nehmen alles. Alle. Die Palästinenser erhalten nach vielen Jahren, wenn überhaupt, eine Karikatur eines unabhängigen Staates, und das nur so lange, wie sie einer Reihe von erniedrigenden Kapitulationsbedingungen zustimmen, denen selbst der niedrigste Kollaborateur niemals zustimmen würde. Israel hingegen bekommt fast alles, und zwar sofort.
Warum müssen sich nur die Palästinenser beweisen, bevor sie etwas bekommen? Hat sich Israel in dem halben Jahrhundert der Besatzung bewährt? Hat es überhaupt das Völkerrecht befolgt? Hat es die internationale Gemeinschaft beherzigt? Sollte es einen Preis für den brutalen Besatzer geben? Für die Siedler? Für was und warum Amerika?
Israel bekommt alles und ohne Bedingungen, während die Palästinenser, ein angesichts der schrecklichen Misshandlungen, die es erduldet, recht zurückhaltendes Volk, sich noch beweisen müssen, um die kleinen Krümel der Gerechtigkeit zu erhalten, die der amerikanische Präsident ihnen zuwirft. Warum muss die Sicherheit Israels immer wieder, über Generationen hinweg und gegen jedes Risiko garantiert werden, ohne dass jemand auch nur einen Finger rührt, um die Sicherheit der Palästinenser zu gewährleisten, deren Blut von Israel so billig vergossen wird? Auch ein kleines Mädchen in Gaza verdient einen sicheren Schlaf, aber wer kümmert sich um sie in Habayit Hayehudi, dem jüdischen Heim, in der 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?
Wenn sich dieser Plan erfüllt, wird, Gott bewahre, das Ende des palästinensischen Volkes sein. Nicht das physische Ende, sondern das nationale Ende. Wer dies für einen Grund zum Feiern hält, ist eingeladen, sich an der Feier auf dem Rabin-Platz für die Freilassung von Naama Issachar zu beteiligen und für den Likud oder Kahol Lavan zu stimmen – wo ist der Unterschied? Aber wer noch einen Tropfen moralischer Verpflichtung hat, sollte entsetzt sein über diesen schrecklichen Frieden der Sieger, der zwar für Israel gut enden mag, aber niemals gut für die Israelis enden wird. Israel hat nie die Verantwortung für den ersten und zweiten Nakbas übernommen, vielleicht wird es sich auch seiner Verantwortung für den dritten entziehen. Aber es wird sich nie der Schuld und der Schande entziehen können, ein anderes Volk auszurotten.

The other day, the entire Palestinian people became Abu Jeriban. The role of the police who tossed out a wounded man in the middle of the night was taken by the American president, Donald Trump, and the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. The role of the hospital that just stood by was taken by the world.
In 2008 it was a human tragedy; two days ago, it was a national tragedy: The White House declared the start of the third Nakba. The Palestinians were tossed by the side of the road and abandoned to their fate. Right-wing Israel is delighted, left-wing Israel is lost as usual, and the world is silent. It’s the end of the world.
The White House looked like Habayit Hayehudi the other day, awash in kippot and Yiddishkeit. Does one have to be an anti-Semite to wonder about this? With all the wheeler-dealer peacemakers – all these Friedmans, Adelsons, Greenblatts, Kushners and Berkowitzes, these supposedly fair and unbiased mediators, it’s impossible to even think about the start of a fair accord.
It’s not hard to guess what goes through the mind of every Palestinian and every seeker of justice at the sight of this all-Jewish and all-right-wing class picture. But the Palestinians weren’t just missing entirely from the ceremony, they were also nowhere to be found in the plan that could seal their future and that heralds the elimination of their last chance for some belated decency, for a bit of justice, for a drop of compassion. They were left bleeding on the side of the road.
This is their third Nakba. After losing most of their land, property and dignity in the first and their liberty in the second, now comes the third to crush whatever is left of their hope. They’ve tried everything. Diplomatic struggle and armed struggle, nonviolent protest and economic boycott. Nothing has helped. The ‘deal of the century’ only reconfirms what was known: The evil thrive, this time in a particularly extreme edition of one-sidedness, racism and arrogance. The mighty take all. All. The Palestinians get a caricature of an independent state after many years, if ever, and only as long as they agree to a series of degrading surrender conditions that even the lowest collaborator would never agree to. Israel, on the other hand, gets almost everything, and right away.
Why do only the Palestinians have to prove themselves before they get anything? Has Israel proven itself in the half-century of occupation? Has it obeyed international law at all? Has it heeded the international community? Should there be a prize for the brutal occupier? For the settlers? For what, and why, America?
Israel gets everything and without conditions, while the Palestinians, a fairly restrained people given the terrible abuse it endures, still have to prove themselves in order to receive the little crumbs of justice that the American president throws to them. Why does Israel’s security have to be guaranteed over and over again, throughout the generations and against all risk, without anyone so much as lifting a finger to ensure the security of the Palestinians, whose blood is so cheaply shed by Israel? A little girl in Gaza also deserves a secure night’s sleep, but who cares about her in Habayit Hayehudi, the Jewish Home, at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?
If this plan is fulfilled, God forbid, it will be the end of the Palestinian people. Not the physical end, the national end. Whoever thinks this is reason to celebrate is invited to join the celebration in Rabin Square for the release of Naama Issachar, and to vote Likud or Kahol Lavan – what’s the difference? But anyone who still has a drop of moral commitment should be aghast at this terrible peace of the victors that may end well for Israel but will never end well for Israelis. Israel never assumed responsibility for the first and second Nakbas, perhaps it will also evade its responsibility for the third. But it will never be able to escape the blame and disgrace for stamping out another people.
